Week 4

The sun finally came out (around 8:10)!

It went pretty smoothly with all the delays and team shuffling and it didn’t rain (for long).

Well let get in to it….

SandBagger of the Week:

Ted "Who’s your Daddy?" Cowles: Ted shot a fine round of net 30, leaving his opponent wondering what he did to make Ted mad! Good round Ted!

Byrdie Club:

3 newbies: Tom Confrey birdied the par 5 11th hole while Ted "Who’s your Daddy?" Cowles and Ed Williams birdied the par 4 18th hole. Great shooting gentlemen!

Subs for next Week: Rob

If you need a sub, let me know.

Golf tip of the week:

If you need to pick up debris around your golf ball and throw it into the woods, make sure the debris doesn’t include your golf ball!

Week 3

Another good night for golf! Our streak of continuous weeks of golf is now two.

I want to pass along our thanks to Bob Kemp and Airways for the use of the golf carts.

Now talking about shaping your shots….Mark Stadnicki 2nd shot on the 9th hole made it all the way around the club house, starting toward the barn, around the club house and started to go back toward the 9th green. Nice shot Mark!

SandBagger of the Week:

This is what you DON’T want to hear from your opponent after informing him that he won the match….’What, I was playing you??’ Nick Billeter shot a fine net 27. Great round Nick!

Byrdie Club:

We had a few birdies this week – 2 newbies and 1 returnee. The 2 noobs was the father and son tandem of Len and Mark Stadnicki. Len birdie the par 4 9th hole while Mark got his bird on the par 4 6th hole. Also, once again President Gallagher drained his putt to birdie the par 4 9th hole.

Coveted Green Jacket Award:

This week’s award goes to Mark "Foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" Stadnicki for his 2nd shot on the 9th hole.

Subs for next week: Dave W.

If you need a sub let me know.

An Airways landmark!

Kudos to Rob for returning to the course after his week 2 humiliation.

Birdie pitchers!

The clouds were threatening, but held off.

Week 2

Who would have thought it?? No Rain! Except for the slow greens, I thought the course was in good shape.

After a month of waiting, team Gallagher / Keilich came out victorious over the previous 1st place team of Pierce / Wieland.
During the victory celebration, Bill Gallagher was awarded the coveted Green Jacket.
More to come about the Green Jacket (see K. Kearns).

Finally we can welcome the newbie Joe Alvarez. Joe is teaming up with Ted this season. So welcome to the league Joe!

SandBagger of the Week:

There is a tie between Manny Russell, Dave White, and newbie Joe Alvarez (that didn’t take long)., all shooting a fine 34 net. Good round Gentlemen!

Byrdie Club:

President Gallagher has company. Kevin Kearns and Dave White birdied the par 5 - 11th hole and Manny Russell birdied the par 3 13th hole. Great shots Gentlemen!

Eagle Club:

Sorry to say no one got an eagle. If someone could putt (Kevin) we would have had one on the 11th hole.

Subs for next week: Joe, John, Ed, and Meyer

Please send me an email if you know when you need a sub.

Week 1

Better late than never, here the stats for the first week!

Quick note: I know it’s the first week but when you see squiggly lines on the score card, don’t write between the lines. We’re using the opposite nine holes!

On the plus side, there should have been a few more birdie pitchers for those who put down a 3 on the 1st hole.

What a difference a week makes. It was 20 degrees warmer the week before. New England, I love it!

Hey the pond didn’t over-flow on the 16th, but the streams did.

SandBagger of the Week:

It was a tie between John "Coming out of Retirement" Hemphill and Tom "Not TC" Wieland. Both shot a fine 32 net. Great round Gentlemen!

Byrdie Club:

Once again Bill "I’m the King" Gallagher, is the first one to post a birdie in the league. Bill shot his bird on the par 5 11th hole. Great shot, Scranton!

Eagle Club:

I will only be mentioned this once and not again until someone gets an eagle.

Kearns and Russell are off to another good start. Not that we’re paying attention to the defending Champs but maybe Larry and TC can slow them down, next week.

Like always, if you need a sub, let me know.

Dave Deyette
(work) 413-794-9031
(cell) 413-887-8296

Standings After Week 1:

9) Pierce / Wieland (5.0 points)
3) Kearns / Russell (5.0 points)
1) Deyette / Stadnicki (5.0 points)
6) Hemphill / Oravec (4.0 points)
2) Gallagher / Keilich (3.0 points)
8) Galiszuski / Williams (2.0 points)
4) Frankel / White (1.0 points)
10) Abbott / Costello (0.0 points)
7) Myers / Patrizzi (0.0 points)
5) Alvarez / Cowles (0.0 points)

Dave makes his first on-course purchase of the season.

I'm guessing there were no complaints that we were playing too well.

Comment of the week, from Ed Williams: "That must be Rob's club!".

Preseason

A few of us went out on Tuesday, Bill G., Hermann, Ted, Meyer, Lenny, and my-self. Hopefully I got rid of all the bad shots!

Lenny and I went off the back 9 while the others went off the front.

The course played more like June rather than April. Hopefully some rain will slow it down a little. The way the weather’s going, by June the pond on 16 will be a puddle (and I’ll still put my 2nd shot in it).

I’m including a picture from last Tuesday. What is it? Answer on Tuesday.

Also, just a reminder: Golf League payments are due: all or part of the $275.00 for Tuesday. Check made payable to Meyer Frankel.

Don’t forget to check out Mr. Gallagher’s blog on the Phoenix Golf League @ http://pnxgolf.blogspot.com/

See you at the course!
