Week 9
It was good to see Ellen back on the links.
Welcome back, Ellen.
Piano lesson must be all done, because Ted was able to come out and play.
Welcome back, Ted.
Heck with, who will hit the barn this week, we now have, who will hit the pavilion roof. Just ask Mark ‘The Tinman’ Stadnicki what kind of sound a golf ball makes when it hits the metal roof. Oh wait, we can say, Mark hit it off the ‘Green Monster’!
The Tinman attempts his recovery shot.
I don’t know what kind of news this is. It’s good news for Marilyn but sad news for the league. Marilyn started her new job as a CNA and it is a 2 nd shift position. So it sad to say, Marilyn will have to step down as a regular and she is hoping to be able to sub in the near future. In the meantime, Mark ‘The Tinman’ Stadnicki will take over Marilyn spot in the league. I know that I’m saying this for the whole league; Marilyn quit that job and play golf!!! No, we will miss Marilyn and wish her luck with her new position. Hopefully we’ll see her soon. Good Luck, Marilyn!!
SandBagger of the Week:
Manny Russell, who shot a fine net 32, made it look easy last night. Great round Manny!
The SandBagger in action.
Byrdie Club:
Wow – no one got a bird last night.

Week 8
It was good to see Mark Hawkes back on the links. It’s been way too many years.
Quote of the Week I: I didn’t think I could hit it that far!
Now that we’re at the midway point of the season:
Dues need to be paid.
The team of Myers / Patrizzi are hold a slim 2.50 point lead over the team of Housman / Morano.
League Leaders: tie between Deyette and Hemphill with 10 points a piece.
Team Kearns / Russell need to step it up a bit if the want to 3-pete.
We had a closest-to-the-pin on the 10th hole. Before I tell you the winner, we went through 8 4-some before someone got it on the green. Lenny got his on the green and with the leagues recent track record, it looked like a lock. But there was one more 4-some and in that 4-some was Dead-Eye Hemphill. Dead-eye punched a 4 iron to 13’ 7” from the pin. Dead-Eye won a dozen golf balls. Lucky shot, I mean great shot John!
SandBagger of the week:
Bill Oravec – Bill shot a fine net 27. Which left his opponent Mike muttering …. And I was giving him 4 strokes! Great round Bill! (what no Dead-Eye or Lenny – hmmm)
Byrdie Club:
One new member: Hermann Keilich and two returning members: Meyer Frankel and Gene Patrizzi. All three got their birds on the 18th hole. Good shots, gentlemen!
Subs for next week:
Ron Waid
Steve Plant

Week 7
Well we had a first. Steve Plant had a 6 on every hole.
Rob, blew us off to go to the Red Sox game. At least they won!
Dedicated Golfer of the Week:
Hermann Keilich – who golfed on his wedding anniversary.
Father of the Week:
Bill Gallagher for not blowing off his son’s baseball game.
(Note: it was a second round playoff game. They lost)
A little known golf fact that you might not know: Kevin needs to play against an opponent. He’s terrible against a ‘dummy’.
SandBagger of the Week :
Marilyn Dolan – Marilyn’s highest score was a 5 until she closed me out on 6 and the she went double bogey, triple bogey, double bogey for a fine 31 net. Great shooting Marilyn!
Byrdie Club:
One returning member, Meyer Frankel. Meyer got his bird on the 1st hole. A perfect way to start a round. Great shot, Meyer!
Not playing next week: (6/23/09) Rob and Ron
(6/30/09) Steve and Ron
If you need a sub let us know.

Week 6
First off, please double check the adding your scores. Over the past few weeks, there have been a few mistakes. So if anyone has a question about their scores and points, let me know I have the cards.
It was pointed out to me that the teams of Oravec / Plant and Kearns / Russell, all parred the 13th hole. You don’t see that every day. Good shots gentlemen. Keeping with this four-some, I heard Steve had a barn shot on the 18th and he had to play a 9 iron up and over to put it back into play. He ended up with a 5. Not bad for a barn shot.
Steve plans his approach . . .
. . . and executes it to perfection.
Red Sox / Yankees:
Our own Johnny Hemphill was at the game last night. I called him when Papi hit his homerun, but I really couldn’t hear him well with everyone chanting Papi, Papi… Man it even sounded like John voice was chanting too!
Featured match of the week:
Big Stadnicki against Little Stadnicki – or should I say Mark, because Little Stadnicki didn’t need the strokes Big Stadnicki was giving him.
I sent Airways a "Thanks" for the use of the golf carts.
Oh yes, Meyer’s birdie pitcher has been repaid (from a few week ago).
SandBagger of the Week:
ME – shooting a net 29 - nothing fantastic but I kept the 8’s to only one hole or maybe because I had the wrong glasses on and I lost sight of the ball after 100 yards. (That keeps you from looking up too early. )
Byrdie Club:
One new member – Mike Galiszuski on the 13th hole. On Mike’s shot, we almost started up the Hole-in-One club. Kevin even got the picture. Great shot Mike!
Mike G. was six inches short of a "Patrizzi" on the 13th . . .
. . . and paid his initiation fee to the Byrdie Club.
I have no one needing a sub for next week. If you need one, let me know.
Dave

The true champion of the Phoenix Golf League.

Week 5
Golf Quote I of the week: "I think I get a stroke on this hole!"
SandBagger of the Week:
Dave Housman – Dave shot a fine net 28, helping his team to vault into 2nd place. Nice round Dave!
Byrdie Club:
Two new members: Gene Patrizzi, who birdied the 2nd hole and me. My bird came on the 1st hole. Great shots, gentlemen!
Nice bird!
It felt like old times with Brian Nick at the course.
There were three of us, who made it to the end (of the last pitcher), John, Hermann, and myself. When I told Brian that "Scooter" wasn’t coming out with anymore beer, he left. Like I said, it felt like old times, Airways closed up and turned the lights off on us. They told us they would pick up the pitcher tomorrow.
Brian, Dave and Duncan are just warming up.
Golf Quote II of the week: "You guys sticking around for another pitcher?"
Subs needed for next week: John, Dave H., and Shaun (who was supposed to be next week and not last night – sorry Shaun).
Dave
