Week 6

Well most of us made it into the club house without getting wet.   Kevin walked in and shut the door and it started to  down-pour. The rest of his four-some was still putting their clubs away and then we had Meyer, Dave, Rob, and Tom still playing the 18^th hole.

 

I looked out to see Rob and Tom at the 10^th tee.  I thought they were having a one hole play-off to see who would be the ‘A’ golfer!

 

I guess Tom gave Rob back his Red Sox ball marker because Rob is/was the ‘A’ golfer.  But he lost it on the 10^th hole (somewhere).  Was Rob’s Red Sox marker a good luck charm? 

 

SandBagger of the Week:

 

Len Stadnicki shot 33 net (and almost didn’t play last night).  Good thing he did.  Great round Len

 

Byrdie Club:

 

We have 1 returnee and 1 newbie:  John Hemphill shot his bird on the par 3 13^th hole and Ted Cowles bagged his 1^st bird on the par 3 13^th hole.  Great shots Gentlemen!

SandBagger of the Week:

 

Wow a 3-way tie for low net and two of the golfers are on the same team!  The team of Galiszuski / Williams and yours truly, all shot a net 33.  Great round Gentlemen!

 

Byrdie Club:

 

Two new members: Ed Williams shot his bird on the par 4 6^th hole (and bought his birdie pitcher) and Kevin Kearns bagged his bird on the par 4 8^th hole (and did not buy his pitcher of beer).  Nice shooting Gentlemen!

Week 4

Maybe we can start a trend.  On the 10^th hole, you can leave a "Barn Ball".   There is a little ledge where you can place a golf ball.   We took a ball and placed it there last night.

 

Last night, Kevin and TC was asking if I knew which team is in 1^st place.  I do now…..

 

Well we had a few teeing off on the GOLD tees last night.   Larry took full advantage and shot his best round (see SandBagger of the Week) since the '06 season, when he shot a 42. 

 

Rob / Tom: the battle for A golfer.  You can’t get any closer than this.  Only a .2 separates the two golfers.  Check out the stats to see who came out on top!

 

SandBagger of the Week:

 

We have a tie for top SandBagger: Larry Myers and Dave White.  Both shot a net of 30.  Dave did this with getting a 9 on 16^th hole.  Now that is a "what if I…", if I ever seen one.   I have a funny feeling that we’ll see Larry getting this award a few more times over the next few weeks (before his hcp drops too low).   Great shooting Gentlemen!

 

Byrdie Club:

 

President Russell welcomes 2 new members to the club: John Hemphill who birdied the par 4 12^th hole and one of our past incumbents: Bill Gallagher who shot his bird on the par 4 14^th hole.  Great shot gentlemen!

Another Urban Legend: Global Warming

 

I’m also resending the League rules.   At the beginning of the season, I sent out the rules from a few years ago.  I know this because 1) it had Meyer’s work phone number and 2) there was nothing about playing from the yellow tees.  So just a reminder; if you start using the yellow tees, you will need to keep using them throughout the season.
