2018 End of Season Outing and Banquet

A great day for our tournament.  It was a good thing the sun came out when we only had a few holes left.  Boy it was starting to get warm.

Week 16 (Final)

A very hot last night of golf!

Airways set up a Closest to the Pin on the 10^th hole.  If it wasn’t for the other 12 golfer, after me….I would have won!!!  But Manny put one 8 feet from the pin, BUT, Lenny knocked one closer.  He ended up 7 feet 1.5 inches away from the pin.  Lenny took home a dozen Titleist golf balls (or so he thinks).  Great shot Len!  

 

Championship:

Congratulations to the team of Bill Gallagher / Jim Brislin for winning the 2018 Phoenix Golf League Championship! 

Gallagher / Brislin beat out the team of Confrey / LStadnicki by a slim .5 points.

 

Individual Point Leaders: 

There was a tie for 1^st place between Ted Cowles and Len Stadnicki both ending up with 23 total points.  Great year gentlemen! 

There was also a tie for 3^rd place between Dave Deyette and Bill Gallagher, with 20 points.

TC leads the pack with 42 pars and coming in 2^nd was Kevin with 35.  But TC did it in 5 fewer weeks.

 

SandBagger of the Week: 

Len Stadnicki, who posted a net round of 30.  If you’re going to have a good round, doing it the last week is a good a time as any.  Great round Len.

 

Byrdie Club: 

There were a few this week:  Mark Stadnicki started off birding the par 3 10^th hole and the par 5 11^th hole.  That was a great start to his round.  Another Stadnicki, Len, birdied the par 5 11^th hole and Bill Gallagher bagged his bird on the par 4 12^th hole.  Great shooting Gentlemen!

Here we go… next week is the last week and the Championship round.

 

It will be between teams:  Gallagher / Brislin vs Confrey / LStadnicki and there is only 4.5 points separating them.  In a nutshell, Confrey / LStadnicki have to win all the points.  Anything but, then Gallagher / Brislin will take the top honors.

 

For the individual point Leader race:  Ted Cowles has a 2 point lead over Lenny Stadnicki.  Ted can either be tied for 1^st place or take it out right by either; getting at least .5 points or Lenny losing .5 points.

Week 6

First off: our well wishes and a speedy recovery go out to Ed Patrizzi.  Yesterday, I found Ed had quadruple bypass surgery.

We haven’t heard back on Terri’s MRI, so we don’t know if there is any extended damage to her knee.

I told Terri, the accident could have been prevented …. if the little voice in your head tells you not to do it, then don’t.  But the little voice in her head was a man’s voice, so she didn’t listen!!!

It was good to see Brian Nick back on the course!

First off: Terri is doing well.  Nothing broken, but her knee is a little swollen.  She won’t know if there is any ‘other’ damage until she goes to therapy.  Right now ice and Advil are her friends.

I'm not say.....

I'm not saying the league is getting older, but when 3 out of 4 golfers hit from the yellow tees.........

I'm not saying the league play was slow last night, but we got passed by ....

I'm not saying who told me this but...I like to welcome a new golfer to the league: Ed 'Gene' Patrizzi 

I heard Bill Oravec got a new car ....

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I had a few of my own: I wished I didn't shoot my age. I want to thank Bill Gallagher for allowing me to lose to him. That was a good birthday present!
I don't know if Kevin is starting another tradition: Jager birthday shots.

Also additional notes on a bench for Dave White: We noticed that the 4th hole did not have a memorial bench at the tees. Also it was mentioned that a donation of $25.00/golfer can buy a nice bench.  Hopefully we can get a handle on this next week.

SandBagger of the Week:

Wow we had 3 tied for the SandBagger of the week: Terri, who had to carry the birthday boy and the team of Confrey / LStadnicki. All 3 shot a fine net round of 34. Great shooting Terri, TC and Len!

Byrdie Club:

Just one golfer: Bill "wait until next week" Deyette. Who bagged his bird on the par 4 9th hole. Great shot Bill!

Week 1

Wow we got the first night of golf in…no rain, no snow!

I hope everyone got a chance to meet Gene’s little brother, Ed.

There were a few first this week….

                We had multiple birdies.

                We have a new club: The Barn Banging Club – with Meyer Frankel as the chairman.  It was bad enough that Meyer hit the barn but from the Yellow tees!  C’mon Man!

At the club house last night, we were talking about – how honor Dave White and it was mentioned about getting a bench and putting it on a hole.  Since there was still a 4-some out on the course and a few golfers who were not there last night, I just wanted to bring this to your attention.

SandBagger of the Week:

J.B. with a fine net round of 33.  Great round Jim.  Keep this up and you’ll be giving strokes instead of getting!

Byrdie Club:

T.C. got his birdie on the par 5 11^th hole and Bill O. bagged his bird on the par 4 18^th hole. 

So president T.C. and vice-president Bill O. are look for some new members to join the Byrdie Club.
