Next week: Championship Round 

Well….Congratulations to the team of Tom (Confrey/Wieland), who has a 6 point lead over the 2^nd place team of Kearns / Russell and locked up 1^st place for the 2019 Phoenix Golf League.  

League points Leader: 

Tom Wieland cannot lose 1^st place with 20.50 points and a 2 point lead over 2^nd place, Kevin Kearns who has 18.50.  Kevin can tie Tom, if… Tom loses and Kevin wins.  Anything else, Tom will take home the top prize.   Since Tom and Kevin will be in the same 4 some next week, they will be aware of their situation. 

Low Net: 

Joe Alvarez has a low net of 27, but there is one more week. 

Low Gross: 

Tom Confrey has a low gross of 38, with one more week.

Joe Alvarez is peaking at the right time….shooting a low net of 30.  Great round, Joe!

President of the Byrdie and Eagle Clubs; Mark Stadnicki birdied the par 5 11^th hole.  Also birding the 11^th hole was Bill Oravec.  While Bill Gallagher birdied the par 4 18^th hole.  Great shooting gentlemen!

Up next for the 1^st place team of Confrey / Wieland are the sleeper team of DDeyette / TDeyette.
Kearns / Russell will go up against Hemphill /  Oravec. 
Gallagher / Keilich a pitted against the up and coming team of Frankel / Zogbaum. Brislin / Williams will go head to head with the Stadnicki boys! 
Alvarez / Cowles will be playing against those pesky comedians; Abbott / Costello

 

So far, I have only 1 person that cannot make the end of the year tournament.

Eagle Club: 

MARK STADNICKI!  Eagled the par 4 9^th hole.  Can Mark hit for the cycle??  Can he afford it??????   Mark, great drive and great putt!!

*Note - Mark was also the 1^st one to get a birdie this year.

Week 13

I want to thank Airways for the free carts!!! 

It was bad enough that I hit the barn(roof) on 18, but to get back out to the fairway, I had to bounce it back off the barn.

I almost lost my wife last night….she took a header walking to the women 13^th tee box from the 12^th green.  She was able to finish her round with no problems.  This morning might be a different story.

Also thanks Joe for lending Terri his sand wedge.  It made a difference.  Now I know what to get her for her birthday!

3 more weeks to go and it looks like a 3 horse race.  The team of Confrey / Wieland have a slim 2 point over both teams of Kearns / Russell and Gallagher / Keilich.

T.C. is out for the next 2 weeks so the pressure is on Tom Wieland.  Of course this would happen: Confrey / Wieland will play Kearns / Russell, next week. (T.C. would only have given Kevin 2 strokes!)

Gallagher / Keilich will play Alvarez / Cowles.

Terri and I will be on vacation, so Lenny will have the cards. 

SandBagger of the Week: 

Manny Russell shot a fine net round of 29.  Great round Manny! 

Byrdie Club: 

Manny Russell nailed his bird on the par 5 11^th hole.  T.C. also birdied the par 5 11^th hole. While his partner Tom Wieland landed a bird on the par 5 16^th hole.  Both Mark Stadnicki and his opponent Bill Gallagher ended their round birding the par 4 18^th hole.

With no more rain-outs, our last week of golf is scheduled to be 9/3/19. (4 more weeks)

There is now a tie for first place….Confrey / Wieland and Gallagher / Keilich

So far I only have 1 golfer that cannot make the end of the year tournament.  Please let me know if you can’t make it.

Byrdie Club: 

1^st place team of Confrey / Wieland bagged a few birds…TC down 2 birds; 1 on the par 4 2^nd hole and his other on the par 4 8^th hole.  while his partner Tom Wieland bagged his 1^st bird of the season on the par 4 9^th hole.  Great shooting Toms!!!
