Week 5

A beautiful night for golf and much drier too!

Tom’s son-in-law, Dan Crawford, subbed for us last night. But he had to leave early. Hopefully next time, he can stay longer!

That's Dan, on the right.

Did everyone notice Mike’s new car! Nice!!!!

*note Mike even bought a pitcher to celebrate.

I guess Duncan couldn’t talk Lori into taking break from moving into their new house. Maybe next time!

SandBagger of the Week:

Meyer Frankel: So Dan’s first week subbing and gets to play against Meyer "The Sandbagger" Frankel. Meyer shot a fine net 31. Great round Meyer!

Byrdie Club:

One newbie or noob: Ed "I’m not texting work" Williams. Ed got his bird on the par 3 – 15th hole. Nice shot, Ed!

*note – last year at this time we had 11 birdies - this year, 3.

Eagle Club:

Nada

*note – last year at this time we had 1 eagle - this year, 0.

People needing a sub for next week: Ed

Dave celebrated his six birdies this week with  . . . What? . . . . Oh, nevermind.

Has anybody else ever noticed this sign tucked inside the hedges behind the 11th tee box?  Looking for guesses as to what it means.

I still don't know what this was all about.  And it's probably better that way.

Week 4

Well, all I can say is, at least it didn’t rain last night!

Last night brought a new meaning to "Lift, Clean, and Place". It should have been, "If You Can Find It, then……."

Next week, it should be drier!

SandBagger of the Week:

This week was a team event, team of Cowles / Morano. Ted and Paul both shot a net 36 while taking on the young guns. Great shooting Gentlemen!

Sandbagger Ted admires Dave's pouring technique.

Byrdie Club:

Skunked again.

Eagle Club:

See Byrdie Club

Maybe I should set up a ‘Jack Parr’ Club. At least someone gets a parr every week.

Talking about the Young Guns: I know Ted and Paul weren’t taking advantage of Mark and Nick (since Mark played the course before), but Ted was over-heard telling Nick on the 3rd hole, ‘this is a dog-leg left’.
I’m sad to say that Hermann’s work, once again, called upon his services and can not play for the next 60 days.

Subs for 5/31:

Hermann
Larry
Bill O

Have a Great Memorial Day weekend, see you Tuesday!

Week 3

It was good to see Gene Patrizzi back, nice and tanned!!

Tom Wieland said he liked playing against Abbott and Costello, except for all their talking….

SandBagger of the Week:

Tom Wieland. I’m wondering if Costello was keeping score last night (Who’s on first?). Tom shot a nice net round of 30. Great shooting Tom!

Byrdie Club:

Yea!! We have 2; Grand Poobah: Bill Gallagher and V.P. Ron Waid. Bill got his bird on the par 5 4th hole as did Ron. Nice shots or putts, Gentlemen!

Eagle Club:

Still vacant. Maybe we have to bring the dues down for a week or two and call it a "pledge drive"!

End-of-the Year Tournament:

Where: St Anne CC
Date: Saturday September 24, 2011
Time: 10:15

If you need a sub, let me know.

Breaking News From Meyer!!!

How a “War Dog” helped to capture/find Bin Laden

My daughter Rebecca (Becky) Frankel is the Managing Editor (Website) for “Foreign Policy” magazine.  She has been reporting “War Dogs” stories for at least a year on the Website. Last night she was on ABC’s National Nightly News TV program.

The following is the link for ABC Nightly News:

Week 2

Another nice night for golf!

Two things: I didn’t hear of anyone hitting the Barn and for the second week in a row, no birdies! I can’t remember ever having 2 straight weeks, without a birdie and this is even with Duncan playing!

So let’s get to it:

SandBagger of the Week:

Bill "Scranton" Gallagher: Bill shot a fine net round of 34. Nice round Bill!

Byrdie Club:

Nada – shutout for 2 weeks now

Eagle Club:

Duncan was putting for an eagle but…….see Byrdie Club.

I have a feeling next week, someone will get a bird. Who will be the first??

I heard a rumor that Gene will be back to join us next week!

Fyi – to see which team is play who – look at the stats, each week for: Next Round: Airways. This will show you next week’s team order.

=========== Next Round: Airways ==================
9 vs 10, 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, 7 vs 8

Like always, let me know if you need a sub!
