Week 7

It was nice to see Bill Oravec and Brian Nick on the course again.

It was "Old-Timers Day" ar Airways, as some of our golfers from yesteryear made a guest appearance.

I hope Larry’s hand heals before next week and doesn’t have a season ending operation, like Tiger!

Pay Back: Every golfer is looking for that elusive birdie and they try very hard to get one. Well on Tuesday night, it was pay back time! The picture will be on the blog and you will see how the birdie got me!

Bullseye!

Saying of the Week: The saying of the week was provided by Bill Gallagher. Bill had 2 birdies: one at the 10th hole and one at the 18th hole. When asked how he did, he responded – "My birdies were bookends to seven holes of crap".

And why is it, when I make a bad shot, Kevin’s there with his camera!!

The fishing was great on the 16th hole or fairway. I’ve updated the score card to factor in the 16th hole. Par for the back 9 went from a 35 to a 33. So the 2 highest hcp on the back 9 was 17 and 14. But like I said, the program will factor this in.

Lake 16.

SandBagger of the Week: Ted Cowles: Ted shot a fine 28 which had Hermann questioning why he was giving Ted 5 strokes! Good shooting Ted!

Ted just barely beat out both members of the Rookie team. Which leads us to ….. Michaud / Zwanch vaulted into 1st place after shutting out Kearns / Russell (Oravec).

Byrdie Club: The pitchers of beers were flowing this week!!

2 returning members and 1 new: (returnees) Len Stadnicki's bird came on the 12th hole with a fine chip shot to a foot from the hole. Meyer Frankel birdied the 15th ‘island’ hole. If you missed this hole to the left (this week), it was wet. As noted prior, (newbie) Bill Gallagher started and ended his round with birds. Great shots, Gentlemen!

The SandBagger is all smiles about free beer.

I noticed Meyer has 3 birds, all coming on par 3’s.

Yes, Kevin, I bought a pitcher for my bird!

To find out ‘How fine’ Len's chip shot was, ask his son Mark. I was walking with Mark and he basically said, ‘I can’t believe that landed a foot from the hole!’ and this is while he was shaking his head.

It didn’t go unnoticed: John Hemphill saved a baby turtle on the 15th hole.

Like always, if you need a sub…

Dave

Week 6

What can I say about the weather, it’s New England!

You will need to check the stats for the outcome for the battle of 1st place between Kearns/Russell and Mackin/Pierce. But Rob was overheard about he was having a nice walk around the golf course.

Rob, looking for his game.

SandBagger of the Week: Bill ‘I had an 8’ Gallagher. Bill shot a net 31, last night and you guessed it; that was with an 8. Things that might have been! Still it was a good round. Good scoring Bill!

The SandBagger at work.

Byrdie Club: One new member: Manny ‘being Manny’ Russell. Manny shot his bird on the 2nd hole. Good shooting Manny!

Manny being Manny.

Just a note: we don’t have to wait 2 years for Mark Stadnicki to buy a pitcher of beer (for last week’s birdie). Dad (Lenny) took care of it, this week. Thanks, Dad!

Let's see. Circled numbers on the scorecard denote birdies. Birdies buy pitchers of beer. It looks like this group owes the league 21 pitchers!

It seems that the team of Kearns/Russell will be fighting to keep a hold on 1st place as they will be going against the ‘rookie;’ team of Michaud/Zwanch, who are in a tie for 2nd place. Will we have a different team in 1st place after next week’s round??

And Ted Cowles, thanks for showing up and being the 5th guy in the 4-some!

Where's Ted? Or is Kevin's shadow the fifth guy in the foursome?

Like always, if you need a sub ……

Dave

10) Mackin / Pierce (19.5 points)

Week 5

Once again, I like to thank Airways for the ‘free’ use of the golf carts. It helped a lot!

I did notice we played a lot of shade golf last night.

Welcome to new golfer Mark Stadnicki! Mark teamed up with Mike Renick to take on the 1st place team. The Team of Subs slowed down the golfing machine of Mackin/Pierce, taking 3.5 points out of 5.

SandBagger of the Week: Is Jason Zwanch with a fine net of 27. John Hemphill was wondering, Jason should have been giving him strokes, not the other way around! Good round, Jason!

(I don’t care what the stats say, I know it was Kevin Kearns.) Just a note, my opponent shot a 39 (gross) and that was with missing 3 short birdie putts! At least I won the LAST hole (ha)!!!! I guess I just bring out the best in Kevin. Also a great round!

There are lies, damn lies, . . .

. . . and Kevin's scorecard.

Byrdie Club: President Jason (*see SandBagger of the Week), helping his own cause, birdied the 14th hole. (We call the 14th the turtle hole, right Bill.) There were also 3 new members to the Byrdie Club: Kevin (39) Kearns, Mark Stadnicki, and Dave Deyette. Kevin got his bird on the 11th hole because he missed his eagle putt! Mark also birdied the 11th hole. I bet Rob thought I brought in a ringer to play against him. I got my bird on the 18th. The only hole Kevin let me win, because he missed his birdie. Good shooting Golfers!

We don't want to say it was playing slow out there, but . . .

We were on the 17th hole and we thought we heard a clap of thunder. We were later told that it was a barn shot from the 18th tee. Good shot Mike R.

This is why they have the golfers on the side of the barn – as a target!

I was playing so bad, that I tried to ‘donate’ a ball on the 18th tee, into the woods, and I don’t think I even made the pond. The rest of the 4-some humored me and said I did.

Thinks that make you go hmmmm. Mark Stadnicki got a birdie on the 11th. We have to wait 2 years before he’s old enough to buy!

Like always if you need a sub. Vacation time is starting; let us know early so we can line up a sub.

Dave

Standings after Week 5:

10) Mackin / Pierce (19.5 points)
3 Kearns / Russell (17.5 points)
9 Michaud / Zwanch (14.5 points)
6 Hemphill / Waid (14.5 points)
4 Frankel / Larson (13.5 points)
8 Dolan / Galiszuski (10.5 points)
7 Myers / Patrizzi (10.5 points)
1 Deyette / Stadnicki (10.5 points)
5 Housman / Morano (8.5 points)
2 Gallagher / Keilich (5.5 points)

"Ace" Patrizzi opened up a huge can of Whoop-Ass on Bill.

Dave and Len were panning for gold . . . Pinnacle Gold!

Why was Hermann wearing his underwear on his head?

Always a welcome sight.

Week 4

First off, ‘good eyes’ to Dave Housman – Dave happened to be in the right spot last night and a very appreciative Hermann Keilich was glad he was. I think everyone knows by now what had happened. If not, let me just say – ‘Hermann’s wedding ring was dropped, on the course and Dave spotted it’. Dave was playing in the last group and Hermann was in the first group. Good eyes Dave!

The Hero of the Day, with his bountiful reward.

Hermann's all smiles, hoping that Jenny never finds out what almost happened!

SandBagger of the Week: Dave Deyette – I was playing against Angela last night and I told her, if I play this good against her that I’ll be playing against her, next week and the week after that, and the week after that… I shot a net of 28.

Byrdie Club: We had a shutout. President Jason was overheard that he was doubling his efforts to increase the membership. I can’t reveal my source, but I heard that Hillary wouldn’t mind being his vice-president!

Like always if you need a sub, let us know.
