Week 8

Once again, I would like to thank Airways for the use of the golf carts.

After last’s night whipping, we have a new team Nick / Patrizzi – sorry Larry you’ve been voted off!

The newly formed Nick / Patrizzi team on the second tee.

"Larry who?"

I apologized to my partner Lenny for putting "B" Nick against him last night. ("B" does not stand for Brian)

Team of Sand / Bagger:

Is there a chink in the armor? Allowing team of Gallagher / Williams to catch up to them and tie them for first place. The price to pay for being "good", Tom is giving a stroke next week to the surging Bill Oravec.

SandBagger of the Week:

We have a tie between Swinging Billy Oravec and Brian "This is fun" Nick, both shooting a net 29. Bill’s been coming on strong the last few weeks. Brian shot a gross 39 and this is with just missing a 5 foot bird on 9. Great round Gentlemen!

Byrdie Club:

We have a new member, Brian "This is fun" Nick . Brian birdied the 1st hole and John Hemphill, who got his pitcher of beer, I mean birdie on the 9th hole. Great putting, Gentlemen.

John describes his birdie in excrutiating detail.

Eagle Club:

Just the Maytag man: Kevin.

I’ll be on vacation next week. Lenny will have the cards.

So if you need a sub, starting Monday, contact Meyer.

If you know when you’re going on vacation and you need a sub for that week, let me know and I’ll put your name on the sub list.

End of the year tournament:

October 10th – St. Annes

3) Kearns / Russell (19.0 points)

8) Galiszuski / Stadnicki (15.5 points)
6) Hemphill / Waid (15.5 points)
1) Deyette / Stadnicki (14.5 points)

The obligatory weekly sharing of embellishments and flat-out lies.

I was wondering what Kevin was taking a picture of.

Week 7

I want to thank Airways for the free use of the carts.

The invention of the Flag Stick was a stroke of genius. It helped speed up the game of golf. No longer did golfers have to guess where the hole was, they had a flag stick to show them where to aim. So if you’re wondering where I going with this, ask John/Ron and Bill/Steve when they were trying to figure out where the hole was on 18. They asked me to remind everyone that the proper use of the flag stick is, standing and stuck in the hole not laying down on the side of the green.

I heard that they were a lot of great shots on 18, just short of the green except for Duncan "Fly Boy" Parsons who was just off the green (the back of the green). It was good to see Duncan back at Airways.

Welcome back, Duncan!

The match of Stadnicki vs Stadnicki was won by Stadnicki (Mark). Mark was a master of using his tree-wood and his tree-iron. Every time Mark hit a tree, it landed in the fariway. Except when he was aiming at Gene/Larry and Paul/Ted who were on the 13th tee box and Mark was on the 16th. I’m not saying that a tree was helping all Mark shots, especially when he chipped it in for a par on 13.

Adventures of team Sand / Bagger:

They asked me, since they didn’t use their strokes this week, can they save them for next week.
Next up, is the team of Carey / Frankel. Can Tom and Rob retain their status?
Meyer is only giving Tom 4 and Rob is giving Mat 4.

SandBagger of the Week:

Will the real Bill Oravec please stand up. I’m not saying that Bill didn’t need the 8 strokes that Johnny was giving him but I know John was saying that Bill didn’t need the 8 strokes. Bill set the ‘Net’ bar low and his net 26 will be almost impossible to beat. Man, this really put some separation from the log jam we previously had at 30 net. Great round Bill!

Bill shoots down this week's victim.

*note – We had 4 weeks of 3 golfers tied with a 30 net. In just one week, we had 3 golfers shoot below a 30 net: Bill O. (26), Ted (28), and Rob (29). I just want to say, good round gentlemen!

Rob shows off his net 29.

Byrdie Club:

1 returnee and 2 newbies – Meyer Frankel must like the 10th hole for this is the 2nd time this year that he birdied it. Bill Oravec joined the club when he also birdied the 10th hole. Then we have Duncan who birdied 11, 16, and the 18th holes. Duncan was last seen at the bank trying to get a loan for all the pitchers of ‘birdie’ beers. Nice shots, gentlemen!

Duncan "The Birdman of Airways" Parson's card.

Eagle Club:

Only Kevin

*note – If you yell FORE and nobody hears it, did you actually yell FORE?

The new first place team mugs for the camera.

Manny, head down! Eyes on the ball when you swing! How do you think you got that lie in the first place?

Golf can be a dangerous game.

Week 6

First off:

Welcome Ed Williams. Ed will be permanently taking Hermann’s spot in the league so now we have a team of Gallagher / Williams.

Secondly:

Tom is only getting 7 strokes next week!! I hope Kevin is up to it.

We had a closest to the pin on the 7th hole last night. Paul Morano came within 15’ 4” from the pin. Did he make the birdie putt? Check out the Byrdie Club for the answer. Paul won 2 dozen Titlest golf balls – oh wait – no he didn’t. Paul received a dozen Pinacles. Nice shot Paul!

Nice balls, Paul.

SandBagger of the Week:

The SandBagger of the Week did say he will have a good round because he just bought a new golf bag and he was dedicating the round to his new golf bag, Rob "New Bag" Pierce. Rob shot a fine round of net 31. Nice shooting Rob (and his new bag)!

Now Rob shooting a net 31 with a new bag, you can say it’s a coincidence but 2 golfers with new bags…There was another golfer sporting a new bag, John "New Shoes, 3-Wood, and Bag" Hemphill. John shot a gross 42, net 32.

Johnnie "New Shoes" is cruising the course . . . probably looking for the beer cart.

Hmmm – Father’s day is this weekend – maybe……

Byrdie Club:

No one!

Eagle Club:

No one!

If you need a sub, send me an email.

Reminder for those who haven’t paid their due in full yet…it’s time.

The league photographer in action.

Shouldn't this jar be full by now?

That's a heck of a slice!

We haven't had nearly enough wildlife shots this season.

Week 5

This week, back nine - no rain. Next week, front nine ???? (hopefully)

It was good to have "B" Nick back on the course. That's what his opponent said!!!

Next week feels like a position night!
1st vs 2nd place
3rd vs 4th place
5th vs 7th place
6th vs 9th place
8th vs 10th place

Myers / Patrizzi better bring their "A" game when they play Pierce / Wieland or as they beginning to be known as team Sand / Bagger!

Anyone hear that gun shot? Oh wait that was John "Shotgun" Hemphill. We were ducking for cover when we heard him hit the barn.

"Len, whatever you do today . . . DON'T HIT THE BARN!!!"

"Can you believe that Dave thinks that I might hit the barn today?"

Not to play favorites, we also had Len "22" Stadnicki hitting the barn, but it wasn't as loud.

SandBagger of the Week:

Paul Morano - Paul shot a fine 31 net. Great shooting Paul, especially doing it the week before I play you and your hcp dropped 2 strokes!!

*note - Manny Russell had a good chance to get low net for the year, but on the last hole he was working on raising his hcp. We were keeping his score by how much he was over par. After 6 holes, he was only 2 over par. Once he found out he won his match....

Byrdie Club:

One newbie: Meyer Frankel. Meyer started off by birding the 10th hole. Everyone appreciates a good birdie, especially this league!!! Nice putt Meyer!

Eagle Club:

Still only Kevin.

For those you haven't paid all of your dues, it's time to starting thinking about getting in the rest of money.

End-of-the-year Tournament:

Standings After Week 5:

7) Myers / Patrizzi (18.0 points)
9) Pierce / Wieland (16.5 points)
2) Gallagher / Keilich (16.5 points)
8) Galiszuski / Stadnicki (14.0 points)
5) Cowles / Morano (13.0 points)
3) Kearns / Russell (12.5 points)
1) Deyette / Stadnicki (11.0 points)
4) Carey / Frankel (9.0 points)
10) Oravec / Plant (8.0 points)
6) Hemphill / Waid (6.5 points)

Even using two sets of clubs couldn't help Dave this week.

My, what evil eyes you have, Mr. Chipmunk!

After further review, it looks like Len's ball was O.B.
