Week 15

One week left!

Who can’t make the golf tournament????

I was asked about a ball being struck by another ball:

Rule 18-5:"If a ball in play and at rest is moved by another ball in motion after a stroke, the moved ball must be replaced."
Note 1: If a ball to be replaced under this Rule is not immediately recoverable, another ball may be substituted.

This is anywhere on the course, not just the green. – Dave

Wow – a lot of golfers shot a low gross round of 42.

Mathmatecally – the top 3 teams are fighting for 1st place.  But don’t forget, what ever position your team comes in at the end of the year, determines your tee time in the tournament.

The team of Hemphill / Oravec still hold a slim 2 point lead over the teams of, Alvarez / Cowles and Kearns / Russell.  In a surpising move (the software), the team of Alvarez / Cowles will be playing the team of Hemphill / Oravec in next week Championship round.

Next week tee times will look like this:

4:00        BDeyette / Wieland        vs            MStadnicki / Zogbaum
4:08        Gallagher / Keilich         vs            Confrey / LStadnicki
4:16        Myers / Williams            vs            DDeyette / TDeyette
4:24        Frankel / White               vs            Kearns / Russell
4:32        Alvarez / Cowles            vs            Hemphill / Oravec

League Leader:  Manny Russell holds a 1.5 point lead over Ted Cowles.  If Manny wins 1 point or Ted loses 1 point – advantage Manny.

Low net:  With the hcps dropping, it would be a miracle for someone to over take Zogger’s low net of 25.

SandBagger of the Week:

Meyer Frankel shot a low net of 29.  I don’t know if what the outcome would have been, if Meyer would have replaced his ball that was hit??  Good round Meyer!

Byrdie Club:

All newbies this week: Ed Williams bagged his bird on the par 4 12th hole, while both Meyer Frankel and Len Stadnicki sank their birds on the par 3 13th hole.  Great shots Gentlemen!

Eagle Club:

Nada – one more chance!!!

Week 14

Good to see Rob Pierce and Kyle Graves back on the course!

I guess 25% chance of making it back was good enough.

As of now, it looks like everyone can make the end-of-the-year tournament.

Two weeks left:

Next week is a regular week and in 2 weeks is the play-offs:  1st place team play 2nd, 3rd plays 4th……

Teams: Team of Hemphill / Oravec increased their lead over the team of Kearns / Russell, to 3 points.  (to thanks to Kyle and Rob).  Next up for Hemphill / Oravec is Kearns / Russell.   This could be a big swing in the standings and have the possibility to play each other, two weeks in a row!

Point Leaders:  Manny (18.5) is holding 1 point lead over Ted and 1.5 over Bill O.  Dave D and Kevin have a slim chance but needs a lot of help.

Low Net: Still Zogger (but the SandBagger of the Week, came real close to over-throwing or at least matching him) with a net of 25.

*note:  it was almost a father vs son match-up next week but Mark shot well enough lower his hcp to take over the A player spot.

SandBagger of the Week:

Terri Deyette – shot a fine 27 net.  I guess playing 5 times in 8 days paid off!  Great round Terri!
(but wait to see low low your hcp is when you drop your 67, next week)

Byrdie Club:

We had 3 – Kevin Kearns with a league leading 4 birdies, had his bird on par 4 9th hole.  TC down his bird on the par 3 7th hole and Kyle Graves bagged his bird on the par 5 4th hole.  Great shooting Gentlemen!

(and before Kevin says it:  since Kyle was playing for John…. John owes a birdie pitcher next week!)

Week 13

I over-heard someone saying, a gentle rain isn’t bad and it wasn’t because it only lasted 5 minutes.

I think there were more pity pitchers of beer than birdie pitchers, last night.

Is everyone going to view the eclipse??

The team of Hemphill / Oravec are still in 1st place but both of them will need subs next week…. against Gallagher / Keilich.

Three weeks left:

Individual Leaders:  Manny (18.5) has a slim lead over Ted and Bill O., both sitting at (17.0)

Low Net:  Zogger (25)

SandBagger of the Week:

This is a true team effort: The team of Kearns / Russell – both shot a net round of 30.  Great rounds Kevin and Manny!!

Byrdie Club:

We had 2 birds last night – Bill ‘Irish’ Gallagher bagged his first bird on the par 4 18th hole.  While Kevin Kearns downed his 3rd bird of the year on the par 4 12th hole.  Great shooting Gentlemen!

Week 12

Well it was raining in Maine… oh well it wasn’t in CT.

With 4 weeks left to the season, can the team of Hemphill / Oravec hold on to their slim 1 point lead over the 2nd place team of Alvarez / Cowles??

SandBagger of the Week:

Mark ‘E’ Stadnicki’s golf game is starting to come around.  Mark shot a fine net 32.  Great round Mark!

Byrdie Club:

We had two birds and they both came on the par 4 9th hole.  One by Dave White and the other from the SandBagger of the Week.  Great shots Dave and Mark!

Week 11

A nice warm night for golf!

Next time we play the back nine, we have to look for Terri’s Breast Cancer ball marker.  She lost it good, this time.

First place team of Hemphill / Oravec held off the team of Deyette / Deyette to maintain a 1.5 lead. Next up for the chance to knock them out of 1st place, is the team of Myers / Williams.

We’re in August and we still have 5 more weeks left of the season.

SandBagger of the Week:

Hermann Keilich shot a fine round of net 27.  Nice round, Hermann!

Byrdie Club:

Bill Oravec, chipped in his bird from back of the green on the par 4 17th hole.  Tom Confrey bagged his bird on the par 5 12th hole. Manny Russell grabbed his bird on the par 4 18th hole and the SandBagger Hermann Keilich started his round by birding the par 3 10th hole.  Great shooting Gentlemen!
