Week 9

Another great night for golf or I should say, It didn’t rain on us!

I didn’t hear of any "barn" hits, but I know there were some close calls!

SandBagger of the Week:

Manny Russell – Manny shot a low net of 30. I’m wondering if Manny still has one of the original "bags of sand" that we handed out many moons ago? Any who – nice round Manny!

Byrdie Club:

One newbie and one returnee - newbie Teddy Cowles birdied the 18th hole and Ronny Waid got his bird on the 11th hole. Great shot gentlemen!

Eagle Club:

No eaglets yet!

Week 8

I want to welcome Tom Confrey to the league!

It was Tom’s first time playing with the Phoenix Golf league. Tom, believe it or not, it is a friendly league, no matter how many times Rob tries to hit someone with his golf ball!

It’s good to see Bill Oravec back on the course. Manny tested out Bill’s back, when Manny ricocheted his drive off a tree and Bill had to dive out of the way. (1) - I haven’t seen anyone more so quickly and (2) - he never spilled his beer he was holding!

Kevin Kearns and I were having the MATCH of the Century but you couldn’t prove it by our scores! I was trying to channel Rory Mcllroy but ended up channeling Rory Raccoon!

We have – "Who can hit the Red Barn"’ on holes 10 and 18 but now we can include – "Who can hit the Green Pavillion?" on 9! I can tell you who hit it last night – Manny and what a racket it was! He turned everyone’s head.

SandBagger of the Week:

For the second week in a row: Mark "My handicap is going down" Stadnicki. Mark shot a net of 28. Great round Mark!

Byrdie Club:

One newbie: Dan "My father-in-law will get the other pitcher!" Crawford. Dan subbing for his father-in-law, Tom Wieland not only birdied the 2nd hole but also the 9th hole! Great shots Dan!!

Eagle Club:

Week 7

The sun was out and there was blue sky …. Of course this was after golf and we were leaving the club house!

As everyone knows, the 16th hole was under water so we played it as a par 3. If you were giving/getting a stroke on the 16th hole, it was moved to the next lowest hcp hole. I checked the cards and believe me it didn’t make any difference to everyone involved.

There were a few low rounds, last night. Some in the same 4-some and some even at the 1 on 1 match level.

SandBagger of the Week:

Mark "My handicap is going down" Stadnicki. Mark shot a net round of 23. Great round Mark!

I just want to add: Dan "Who’s my next victim?" Crawford had a net 25 and Ed "No I’m not tweeting my score to Stocker" Williams had a net 26. I just want to say great round Gentlemen. Oh by the way, they were all getting strokes last night. Talking about sandbaggers!

Byrdie Club:

One returnee - Grand PooBa: Bill Gallagher who got his bird on the 10th hole and newbie - Mark "My handicap is going down" Stadnicki who shot his bird on the 13th hole. Great shots, Gentlemen.

Eagle Club:

Zilch

I just want to send a Get Well to the team of Hemphill / Oravec. Both have been out the last 2 weeks with back ailments. Hopefully we’ll see them on the course next week.

Another beautiful night for golf (just ask my opponent Tom)!

It was good to see Ellen Panagrosso, Brian Nick, and Neil McOmber back on the links with us!

Ron "Hermann" Waid. Ron’s clubs have been coming alive lately. Ron shot a fine net 30. Nice round Ron!

*note - Ron and Tom are now tied for the low net of the year, with a 30. (who gets the desk by the window!)

Byrdie Club:

One returnee: Ron "Hermann" Waid, who shot his bird on the par 5 – 5th hole and one newbie: Tom "Dave’s giving how many strokes?" Wieland. Who got his bird on the very first hole and I was giving him a stoke, too! Great shooting gentlemen!!!

Did Tom's electric pink shirt give him an edge over Dave?
